Friday 12 March in Parliament

In the House - Friday
In the House - Friday

Fridays are generally quiet because MPs return to their constituencies but this one has some interesting debates and topics.

The Commons

Today will see a number of Private Members Bills debated, we expect a debate on the cost of school uniforms, on the British Library’s power to borrow, extending the duty of all post 16 education and training sites to promote the welfare of children then if we get to it, the Forensic Science Regulator Bill and a Bill on banning cosmetic fillers for children (bringing the age to 18).

The Lords

The Lords will be debating the Budget today, despite having no influence over it at this stage, so far there are 61 Members down to speak in the debate so it will be a lengthy one! Keep an eye on Lord Kemall, Lord Khan and Lord Hannan – newbies to their role!
